Mission Haven News![]() Missionary Furlough Home in Decatur, GA Many years ago our denomination decided it would be a good thing for missionaries of the Presbyterian Church (USA) to have a place of respite when they returned to the United States from their assigned places around the world. Mission Haven is that special place. It consists of three houses and six apartments that are fully furnished. There is also a clothes closet to provide good donated clothing to the missionaries and to students at Columbia Seminary. This clothes closet is adjacent to the property, which is located just north of Columbia Seminary. The upkeep of Mission Haven is under the guidance of a Presbyterian Women board with input from the Columbia Seminary President. However, there is no funding provided by PC (USA). All of the financial support comes from six states in the Southeast: Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, and South Carolina. That represents only 25 presbyteries in our denomination! This past spring, all nine units underwent a much needed renovation. Mission Haven is in need of financial support. For the past few years giving to Mission Haven has declined and for the last couple of years it has operated at a significant financial loss. It provides a much needed service to those called to serve God in a unique way. Prayerfully consider how you can support Mission Haven. Share your ideas with your Presbyterian Women. Remember: God has called us together for the purpose of building up the body of Christ. Supporting Mission Haven is one way of fulfilling our calling.
