Hurricane Relief Efforts

Following the impacts of Hurricane Ida and in anticipation of future natural disasters, the Missions Committee is hosting a drive for clean up supplies and donations. There are several ways to get involved:

  • Donate to the Presbytery of St. Andrew's Mississippi Disaster Fund, 100% of which goes directly to meet immediate needs following local disasters in our state. Give online by clicking the DONATE button below or send a check to the presbytery office with "MS Disaster Fund" in the memo line (please make the check out to Presbytery of St. Andrew)
  • Assemble complete clean up buckets according to these instructions and bring them to the presbytery meeting on October 12, or drop off at the Presbytery office anytime before October 19.
  • Some specific  items  are also needed to finish assembling buckets  at the warehouse: laundry detergent, sturdy non-latex dish gloves, disinfectant cleaner (no spray bottles or aerosol), work gloves, dish soap, and heavy duty black trash bags. You can also drop these items off at the meeting or the office.
  • Donate to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance's nation-wide hurricane response by phone, mail, or online. Find the details here

Download the bulletin insert below to help spread the word to your congregation (though of course you are welcome to create your own if you're planning to focus on a specific part!)

The document has two pages - one about collecting cleanup supplies, and the other about financial ways to contribute. If you only need to share one, just select that one page to print. To use both, print double sided (select "short edge" or "horizontal" binding in your printer settings or one side might end up upside down).

Support Hunger Relief

We anticipate an increase in Hunger Action Grant requests from this year to next and we need your assistance to replenish our fund so that we are prepared to respond. We feel that if we all work together on this, we can make it happen.

To help us ensure that Hunger Action Grants will continue as long as need is there, please contribute to the Presbytery of St. Andrew's Cents-Ability Fund below.

Anti-Racism Resources

The Missions Committee has compiled a list of resources for personal and communal anti-racism reflection and action. In hopes that this list will keep growing, it's available as a Google Doc here (no log in required). If you would prefer a PDF, or have a suggestion for something to add, please contact Allison Wehrung at ukirk.olemiss@gmail.com
